Orientation:
Last summer, I had the opportunity to visit Bali with my family. This was a trip I had been looking forward to for years, as Bali is well-known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, and warm people. We planned to spend a week there to make the most of our time, exploring different parts of the island. We had booked a small villa near the beach, and I could hardly contain my excitement as we boarded the plane.
Events:
The first day in Bali was everything I had hoped for. After checking into our villa, we headed straight to Kuta Beach. The sand was soft beneath my feet, and the sound of waves crashing against the shore was calming yet exhilarating. We spent the entire afternoon swimming, sunbathing, and simply enjoying the beauty of the beach. In the evening, we watched the sunset, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. It was a breathtaking sight that I will never forget.
The following day, we decided to visit Ubud, a town famous for its arts, crafts, and cultural heritage. The journey to Ubud took about an hour, but the scenic views along the way made the trip enjoyable. When we arrived, we explored the Ubud Monkey Forest, where hundreds of monkeys roamed freely. I was initially scared, but the monkeys turned out to be friendly, and I even managed to take a selfie with one. We also visited the local art market, where I bought some souvenirs and traditional Balinese artwork.
On the third day, we went snorkeling at Nusa Penida, a small island off the coast of Bali. We took a boat early in the morning, and as we arrived, I was captivated by the crystal-clear water and vibrant marine life. Snorkeling was an unforgettable experience; it felt as though I was in another world, surrounded by colorful fish and coral reefs. My dad, who is an experienced diver, even taught me a few tips on how to dive deeper and see the underwater beauty more closely. After a few hours of snorkeling, we relaxed on the beach, soaking in the sun and enjoying fresh coconut water.
Later in the week, we visited Tanah Lot, a temple located on a rock formation in the middle of the sea. The temple was stunning, and the view of the waves crashing against the rocks was mesmerizing. We learned that this temple is considered sacred by the Balinese people, and it’s one of the most important sea temples on the island. As the tide was low, we were able to walk closer to the temple and even received a blessing from one of the priests. It was a peaceful and spiritual experience that added a deeper meaning to our trip.
On our final day, we went to a traditional Balinese dance performance. The dancers wore colorful costumes and performed with such grace and emotion that I was completely captivated. Each movement told a story, and although I didn’t understand the language, the performance conveyed the emotions beautifully. This cultural experience was one of the highlights of our trip and gave me a deeper appreciation for Balinese culture.
